Can small town inhabitant be successful? Has small town inhabitant a chance to burn up in the world? What is success? What makes a person successful? What does it a person need for success? What does it mean education by success? What kind of possibilities small town inhabitant has for self education? Is the "real life" only in big towns? Such questions will be answered during Success-story competition “Small Town Inhabitants - Educated or Uneducated People?”, which will organized by UBC Commission on Education, Kärdla Town Government and Hiiumaa Youth Council. The competition will take place per internet from 20 October until 30 November 2008. Invited are youth until 26 years from all UBC member cities. Every candidate presents Essay about his/her success-story not later than 30 November 2008 to the address This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it Every Essay must have min 4000 characters. Essay can be written by a youth or adult, but youth must send it self. Photos and videos are allowed. Essay must be written in two parts and must include following topics: Part 1 - From Past till Today Youth success in social and/or working area. What does it mean his/her success for his/her domicile? What has led him/her to the position its where he/she is today? His/her roots must be from UBC member city but he/she can reside somewhere else. What kind of childhood he/she has had (who/what has given a push or influenced to success), background of culture (polity, local peculiarity). His/her education (where and what studied, what has every training brought). His/her self-estimate: what kind of qualities are important to be successful? What kind of qualities have prevented being successful? Part 2 – Future His/her vision for Future: Aims for Future and how he/she will achieve them. Essay must be sent with following data: Surname(s) and Family name, age, school and grade (or workplace), home address with zip code, e-mail address, contact phone. The jury will announce 1 first, 1 second and 1 third prize and 5 incentive prizes. The prize fund is 1000 EUR. I prize (400 EUR): Minilaptop MSI Wind U100 II prize (275 EUR): iPod Classic 160GB III prize (175 EUR): iPod nano 8GB Incentive prizes (total: 150 EUR): 5 Photo books „Hiiumaa” („Dagö”) The jury will reserve right to change the structure of prizes on case there is no work with necessary (quality) level. Essays will be published on the websites of UBC and Kärdla Town Government. www.ubc.net and www.kardla.ee. The winners will be contacted individually. |
